2018 Land Awards Gala

The only event of its kind in BC, the Land Awards Gala celebrates sustainable projects from a wide cross-section of sectors related to land use and real estate. Awards have been given for affordable housing, urban agriculture initiatives, Indigenous-led conservation plans, freshwater ecosystem protections, and more.

The Land Awards Gala attracts a diverse audience of community leaders, local government officials, non-profit executives, real estate and development leaders, community planners, academics, and journalists. 250 guests attend each year.

Highlights:

  • Sample BC wines, craft beers, and spirits at the networking reception.
  • Laugh with emcee Erica Sigurdson, stand-up comedian and guest on CBC’s The Debaters.
  • Learn about land use projects taking place across BC as Vancouver journalist Renu Bakshi hosts the awards show.
  • Enjoy the sounds of Vancouver jazz band Van Django during the reception and after party.

EMCEE | Erica Sigurdson
Stand-up comedian and writer. Erica Sigurdson is best known for her rapier wit on CBC Radio’s smash hit The Debaters. Erica is in high demand for radio, television, and live appearances. She has performed at comedy festivals in cities across Canada.

AWARDS | Renu Bakshi
Communicator and business journalist. Renu Bakshi is a recognized leader in strategic communications, a seasoned journalist, and a regular speaker at events. Renu spent 21 years as a journalist, including 13 years reporting and anchoring for CTV News. She is a guest columnist for Business in Vancouver newspaper and guest faculty teacher at Urban Development Institute’s School of Development.
